Why i joined MyHITPlace

It's a fact that the music industry is filled with ways for making six-figure incomes, but i also know that we the undiscovered composers still not getting it. We all know why. For about 15 years, i have been writing music, with many joys and happy moments and the satisfaction of been able to express in a song the vivid emotions I have inside. But lemme tell you something; i have no money at all! Music is a time consuming profession and really expensive if you don't have the right tools. I have had some contracts for a few songs after years and years of door knocking, mailing my music to almost any industry related person in the states, but those songs just came to fill a big money hole Ive been digging all this years. Studio sessions, mixing, mastering, musicians hiring, radio, promotion, mixtapes, equipment and a big etc are things we the "pro" songwriters have to live with day by day. So, why do I keep torturing myself like this? Very simple: I love music, and I would do anything to get my music heard.

So I started to investigate this thing called the Internet, and I found out that actually it can be a pretty good companion in this long promotion journey. But first i will explain a few things.

Most people think that the money flows when you get a record deal. Wrong! About the 75%, of the new albums released every year, end up in the shelves of some gods forgotten convenience store waiting for someone to come and find a 5.95$ bargain. And you still tied to the contract you desire you never signed, but you did!

The real money is called ROYALTIES. Have you ever wonder how that outstanding music became part of the Matrix The movie, or how did Vangelis got his famous score for the Chariots of Fire movie? Well, things like that are happening every day. Many entrepreneurs, AR, hunters for many Film studios, TV Channels, Media Agencies, Advertisement Agencies, and of course Record Labels, are seeking every day for new music to place it into the most vary range of projects.

When i realized myself of that, I decided to conduct my efforts to include my work in any of those projects. So here is what I did. I started searching the Internet for places where I could get my music connected to those projects. I cannot say there aren't those places, but it was difficult for me to find them, even when there are zillions of sites claiming they promote your music, 99% of those are just another fancy showroom like MySpace where too often social popularity is confused with success I have about 27000 friends in MySpace, no contracts coming from there.

Social networking is also pointed as the savior of self-promotion and indeed it has many good tools that can help. Well after many days of web surfing I finally got to the spot where professionalism is combined with commodity. I found a site that actually is aimed to connect your work to matching projects, and they already have music industry people reviewing and selecting which songs have the quality to stay published on the site. Top-Notch I must say. Well, now I am not in red numbers anymore, just signed a contract for the inclusion of one of my songs in a Nationwide TV Show and now I am really more enthusiastic about making more music.
